Western Governors University Launches New Scholarship for First Responders

In honor of National First Responders Day, which takes place annually on Oct. 28, Western Governors University (WGU) is launching a new scholarship to show appreciation for first responders – including EMTs, police officers, firefighters, corrections officers and others – who have demonstrated unprecedented selflessness and commitment in serving area communities as they carried out their duties throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

HALUSKA AND ZITTERGRUEN ELECTED AS IHSSA FINE ARTS ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR

Gary Zittergruen left of Benton CSD awarded  the IHSSA Fine Arts Administrator of the Year Award The Iowa High School Speech Association presented the IHSSA Fine Arts Administrator of the Year October 15, 2021 at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center in Ames. The award was conceived in 2005 by the Executive Committee of the IHSSA. It is presented to a distinguished individual of statewide reputation and outstanding accomplishments. This is the highest honor the Iowa High School Speech Association may confer on an administrator.

Oct 18-24 is National Estate Planning Awareness Week

October 18-24 is National Estate Planning Awareness Week, a time to call awareness to what estate planning is and why it is an important part of a personal financial plan. According to Gallop's spring 2021 poll findings, 46% of U.S. adults have a will that indicates plans for their money and estate after their death. This number has hovered at around the half mark since 1990.

North Eden Willing Workers Minutes October 17

October 17, 2021The North Eden Willing Workers met at Hanson's Hallow, LaPorte City pumpkin farm on October 17, 2021 at 4:30 P.M. The secretary gave roll call. Roll call was answered with what is your favorite fall activity. 17 of 24 members were present. Two new members (Addison Ollinger and Gina Lutgen) attended the meeting. The treasurer's report was a balance of $1,266.
